Let’s Get Loose Excercise 1
This month I decided to include more than one “Let’s Get Loose” activity, I just couldn’t decide so I thought “Why not combine them or just do them both”. If you would like to share please send these to me or tag me on Instagram @mar.mar.studio because I’d love to see what you create and hear about your goals and dreams!
1. Vision Collage: Mapping the Creative Dream
Prompt: Grab old magazines, printed photos, or doodles, and create a collage that represents your creative aspirations for the year. Focus on emotions, colours, and themes rather than literal depictions. If you get stuck, sometimes stating with words can help journal or brainstorm about what kind of artist you want to be, and what kind of art you want to make.
Why it works: This exercise allows us to visualize our goals while engaging our hands and our intuition—a perfect pairing for starting anew. It also allows you to create a non-literal depiction of what you want to see in your creative practice this year.
2. Dear Future Me: Artistic Time Capsule
Prompt: Write a short note or a letter to your future self about your hopes and dreams and what you want but write it as if it has already come to pass. I’ll share some snippets of my letter below. You can tuck this away on its own or with your collage from the previous exercise and set a reminder in your phone and on your calendar to open on a particular date.
Why it works: This is both reflective and aspirational—perfect for fresh starts! I also love that we are taking time to talk directly to our future selves. Sometimes we forget to take stock of how far we’ve truly come or what we actually want.
